Samsaya - Naina Don't Lie

Samsaya and her absolutely non-compromising approach to her heritage in new song Naina Don’t Lie . From the title ( naina meaning eyes), the distant flute in her production, and of course the middle-eight breakdown, singing in Hindi “ yeh pyaar toh paagal hai, yeh dil naadaan hai ” (“this love is crazy, this heart naive”). And it’s all wrapped in an R&B smash that your faves could only dream of. Yo Samsaya: maar daala, yaar.

PLGRMS- Crawling Back

Sydney-based duo, singer-songwriter Jacob Pearson and multi-instrumentalist songwriter/producer Jonathan Bowden, veer slightly off the electronic path with a more organic instrumentation sound of Pearson’s warm vocals, while synths wail amongst African-tinged percussion, and a funk-laced bass line, to which in my head sounds like Bono or U2 meets some electronica vibe of sorts. "Musically, it started, I think, in 2015 maybe. It was when the idea first came up and we started working on it back then and we had some lyrics for it originally that have been thrown out and replaced in the meantime, but musically I think it's pretty well stayed consistent since back then," says Bowden. Comparable to rock veterans like Muse and The Killers , PLGRMS have created a timeless piece with their smooth as gravy vocals and guitar heavy arrangement. CunninLynguists fans know any new material from them usually means more unforgettable hip-hop quality, and, just recently, the trio returned with a three-piece project titled The Azura EP . Long-time followers of the group are familiar with Kno's production, and he doesn't hold back on the EP, fusing vintage soul samples with signature hip-hop cadences to complement the flows of Deacon The Villain and Natti.
